| Note | The scarcest of Australia’s Melo species. Difficult to obtain at any size now, but very seldom encountered or offered over 300 mm. This old age GIANT was collected over half a century ago. Apertural lip lightly smoothed, as was standard practice in the 1970s. A rare opportunity for a Volutidae specialist, or dedicated collector of giant sized shells. Note: This shell requires substantial packing, in a very large parcel for safe transit, but I will round down postage to 100 EUR to anywhere in the world. Please factor this when bidding. Data: Off Augusta, Western Australia, Australia; upon sand substrate; 20-40 m; trawled; 1970s. Size: c.330 mm. Grading: Fine+. |
