Item | # 0003475466 | Family | Fissurellidae | Name | Fissurella crassa - Very Nice, Exceptional , Lamarck, 1822 |
Size | 67.6 mm |
Locality | Caldera, northern Chile |
Note | One very nice and exceptional specimen of Fissurella crassa. Large Fissurella species in northern Chile are actively collected by fishermen, so they often have nicks and damages on the border of the lip, and they are always found with scurria scars on the shells. This particular specimen is in excellent condition for the species, as it has a nice border of the lip, a very nice shiny interior of the shell, and a shell dorsum with no Scurria scars or boreholes or erosion as can be seen in the images, which is quite rare for this species. It has also a very thick shell (about 4 mm) which is also very concave for the species. A low initial price for an excellent and outstanding specimen of Fissurella crassa. |
