| Note | The LARGEST, FINEST and LAST festiva of the JES Collection, this exceptional GIANT was collected during the 1990s Italian trawling off Somalia. Never available since, such ultra-rare high quality giants have become highly sought after ‘collector’s items’, obtainable only when released from the most connoisseurial of old collections. Incredibly beautiful rich earth colours. Retention of bulbous protoconch. Hypermature, with greatly thickened, fully glossed, ‘rolled’ apertural lip. An enormous ‘museum piece’ for the advanced Volutidae specialist, or dedicated collector of the finest giant-sized shells. (Note 1: The species was recently assigned the genus Callipara, and renamed 'casaana', but specific distinction may be dubious, and I much prefer, and have here retained, the ‘classic’, far more romantic Festilyria festiva. Note 2: This shell requires substantial protection for transit, but I will round down postage to 60 EUR to anywhere in the world. Please factor this cost when bidding.)
