| Note | A large and impressive specimen of this exquisite, deep-water, endemic Queensland species, from the legendary 1980s Queensland trawls. Atypically dense pattern, of the highest aesthetic merit, formed with regularity and clarity. A couple of typical predatory drill holes to ventrum of early whorls – a natural aspect of this species. Hypermature: extremely solid; fully mature apertural lip. Not freshly collected for over three decades, and now obtainable only from old collections. Data: Hixson Cay, Swain Reefs, Queensland, Australia; upon sand substrate; 180-220 m; trawled; 1982. Size: 83.4 mm. Grading: Fine++. |
