Item | # 0003490675 |
Family | Harpidae |
Name | Harpa crenata - ECUADORIAN ‘SPINED’ FORM , Swainson, W.J., 1822 |
Size | 59.4 mm |
Locality | Ecuador |
Note | The FINEST specimen I have ever encountered of the little known, and very seldom offered ‘SPINED’ Ecuadorian form, so called upon account of three spiral rows of pointed protrusions - 2 at the whorl periphery, and one below the whorl suture. Markedly broad form. Beautiful combination of earth tones – orangish cream; dusky cinnamon; maculations of caramel; and the atypical feature of a fine dark chestnut line to each rib. Superior pattern of chevron-like markings. Rare quality – PERFECTION. A magnificent specimen for the Harpidae specialist, or connoisseur of truly exquisite seashells. Data: Bahia de Panama, off Puerto de Vacamonte, Panamá Oeste Province, Panama; upon sand/mud substrate; 80-120 m; trawled; 2022. Size: 59.4 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
