| Note | A superb GIANT specimen of the Philippines form, examples of which came principally from the region of Sorsgon, back in the 1990s. This form is always larger at maturity and more solid than examples from Indonesia. (I also offer a superb specimen of the latter in this auction for direct comparison.) The current specimen is, however, far larger than usual for the Philippines form. Markedly inflated body whorl, contributing to its appearance of size. Beautiful pastel colours. Superb quality for an old age giant. Retention of massive, original operculum. Data: Sorsogon Bay, Sorsogon, Bicol Region, Luzon, Philippines; upon sand/rubble substrate; 60-80 m; trawled; 2002.
