Family | Muricidae |
Name | Chicoreus saulii - VERY RARE KWAJALEIN FORM , Sowerby II, G.B., 1841 |
Size | 88.6 mm, w/o |
Locality | Marshall Islands |
Note | This OUTSTANDING specimen of the very rare Marshall Islands form, is not only the BEST Marshall Islands example I have ever seen, it is the most beautiful saulii I have ever encountered. Truly exquisite colour: pale lemon ground, with delicate rose pink fronding – entirely different to the usual brown specimens from various typical localities. Exceptional quality – PERFECTION. An immaculate shell; painstakingly cleaned; completely devoid of encrustation. One of my favourite shells of the entire JES Collection. A unique opportunity for an advanced Muricidae connoisseur to add a very rare and very seldom offered form to their holdings. Data: Off Eniwetak, Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands; upon coarse coral sand/rubble substrate, in reef channel; 12 m; dived; 1988. Size: 88.6 mm. Grading: Gem; w/o. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
