Cypraeovula capensis capensis - SPECIAL COLOR , Gray, 1828
Size
30.9 mm
Locality
Africa
Note
GEM. MUCH CHOCOLATE ON THE DORSUM OF THIS CAPENSIS. From a vintage collection, a live taken capensis from Algoa Bay in which the dorsal spot of chocolate brown is very well developed, more than usual. The capensis was known for many years as a “dead collected” species only. Only a few decades ago, with the event of scuba diving, living pieces have been collected. One has to be brave however: this species lives in the territory of the famous white sharks. Charming cowry in exceptional coloration.
South Africa. Algoa Bay. Live on reef. 20 m. June 1999.
