F+++/GEM. A large example of the Conus textile from the Horn of Africa which has a low spire and a broad shoulder. It was described by expert da Motta as a valid species, the holotype can be seen La Conchiglia (1983): it measures 76 mm. It is possible that molecular studies indeed show this Conus to be a valid species, but as for the moment I prefer the subspecific status. Beautiful and hard to get because of restrictions of fishing in this area. No more around!!!
Red Sea. Israel. Eilat. Dived, 2-3 m, on sand near coral reef. September 1980.
