| Note | We have just revisited (May 2025) the area where stricklandi live and were extremely disappointed to find that the area has been decimated by the hot water event that has settled on the area for the past five months. Most of the food sponges are dead and even the gorgonian fan corals have been fried and are charred stumps. We have found a very limited number of surviving stricklandi. Classic stricklandi ROV collected from a finger sponge in 82 metres of water west of the Muiron Islands off Exmouth Gulf. Attractive shell with a creamy dorsum covered in brown speckles, vibrant apricot base and apricot sides with brown spots. Graded Fine++/Fine+++ due to an algal inclusion to very top of dorsum, hidden in pattern. A new Zoila discovered by ROV in 2014. |
