| Note | A magnificent specimen of this endemic Western Australian species, of rare PERFECTION. Pattern formed with the utmost regularity and clarity. Rare locality: tiny Weld Island, where little collecting has ever been undertaken, and which is now protected as the Weld Island Nature Reserve, with no fresh specimens being available in future. Now very difficult to obtain, especially at this level of quality. A diminutive jewel for the Volutidae connoisseur. Data: Off eastern coast of Weld Island, Western Australia, Australia; upon coarse sand substrate; 12 m; dived; 1999. Size: 29.2 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
