DAZZLING COLORS IN THESE EYE CATCHING DEEP WATER SEA URCHINS. Among the Sea Urchins, the genus Coelopleurus lives in relatively deep water and produces fabulously colored sea urchins with a small body and very long and thin slender spines. Here a set, taken in front of Punta Engano, at depths around 200 m. The one on top is possibly Coelopleurus maillardi, on the left possibly C. maculatus and on the right a superb C. granulatus. The size of these 3 pieces is bigger than usual, they go from 39+ to 44 mm in diameter! For the lovers of top aesthetic natural history pieces, lovely to join on the shelves between some equally superb shells. The quality is highly select. Not easy to get.
