| Note | Graceful, heavy and elegant beauty. This larger sized specimen exhibits exceptional expanded wings with notable fluting. The mellow yellow varices complement the striking dark/light brown pin stripping that blend seamlessly into the dorsal varix and body whorl. This lovely shell shows superb form. Captured at the base/periphery of a kelp forest by Scuba diver at 14-15 meters off Santa Rosa Island, California in 2022. The The aperture lip, protoconch, and anterior canal are intact. There is random attrition of fluted edges of the varices and erosive areas on the spire and a mini pinhole on the ventral body whorl. Grade: F++. |
