| Note | A superb, ultra-large specimen of this RARE and exquisite, endemic Philippine subspecies. Spectacular apertural interior: ultra-dark espresso, in the company of rich yellow-orange. Magnificent dorsal pattern. Highly glossy exterior. One restricted area of perfectly formed, natural regrowth during life at the anterior canal the only reason for a ‘Fine++’ grading. PERFECT apex. Rare, even back in the 1980s when such specimens were collected, the subspecies is seldom found nowadays, and has become a ‘collector’s item’. Data: Bohol Sea, off Panglao, Bohol, Central Visayas, Visayas, Philippines; upon sand/rubble substrate; 10-20 m; dived; 1989. Size: 64.4 mm. Grading: Gem.
