| Note | An OUTSTANDING, ultra-large specimen, of rare quality – PERFECTION – with none of the oft-seen growth disruptions which detract from many examples. Rich colour: deep greenish cream, with large, free-form maculations of espresso. Well-formed, highly regular pattern. Hypermature: solid and heavy; with markedly thickened, ‘rolled’, and glossed apertural lip. Such specimens were somewhat available during the 1980s, but have become extremely difficult to obtain now, coming principally from choice old collections. Data: Off Aliguay, Dapitan, Zamboanga del Norte, Mindanao, Philippines; upon sand substrate; 6-10 m; dived; 1994. Size: 118.9 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
