| Note | This magnificent specimen exhibits the SPECIAL COLOUR sought by the connoisseur – not the pale beige, especially that of washed out, poorly curated specimens, but deep PINK, alternating with bands of dusky cinnamon, with a hint of lemon at the margins, and with dark espresso accents flanking the terminals. Thick, resplendent gloss, as fresh now as when collected. Extremely solid and heavy for size – characteristic of this thick-walled cowrie when fully mature. Pronounced ventral callosity in thick, glass-like pink, with the appearance of rostration. As this species now comes almost exclusively from old collections, it is exceedingly difficult to obtain such a well-curated specimen of such colour and quality.
