| Note | GEM extremely rare species, second specimen to ever be offered on Shellauction. TOP condition, with both perfectly intact apical disc and periproctal plates (exceeding rare to retain the periproctal plates). Comes from a very rare and unusual locality of metro Perth waters in central Western Australia, with typical specimens come from Southeastern Australia such as South Australia, Tasmania, and Victoria. This is the first time I have seen this species in 10+ years of living in Perth, and only a handful of specimens known from this locality. Identifies as M. annulatus, however this may in fact be a new species yet to be described. Amazing perfect round ball shaped, unique one of the kind specimen. A must-have for a serious urchin connoisseur, will not see one for sale again! |
