| Note | A superb large specimen, of exemplary quality for this typically rough species, from the ‘old days’ of extreme deep-water South African trawling. Retention of periostracum. Retention of oversized bulbous protoconch, often damaged during the trawling process. Very difficult to obtain at this size and quality now, coming only from old collections. Data: Off Durban, Natal, KwaZulu, South Africa; upon sand/mud substrate; 250-350 m; trawled; 1981. Size: 164.8 mm. Grading: Fine+++. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
