| Note | A superb, ultra-large specimen of the VERY RARE GOLDEN form. I imagine that ‘golden’ specimens occur at a ratio of only around one in every two or three hundred typical examples, as I have seen very few examples during my extensive career. Definitely for the Fasciolariidae specialist whose collection yet lacks this rare form, or for the collector of unusual BIG shells. Data: Surigao, Surigao del Norte, Caraga, Mindanao, Philippines; upon reef substrate; 10-20 m; dived; 2006. Size: 157.9 mm. Grading: Fine++. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
