Zoila venusta - Deep Water Specimen !!! , (G. B. Sowerby I, 1847)

Note
In deep water off the south coast we find venusta that are very different from their shallow water counterparts. We refer to them as deep water south coast venusta given they do not have a form name. This shell was found in May 2022 crawling on sand in 70 metres of water south of Figure of Eight Island off Esperance Bay. It is heavy, with a narrow aperure and has more pronounced siphons than specimens dive collected in shallow water around the Esperance Islands. Pretty shell with a patch of tan brown spots on a beige dorsum and nice lateral spotting. Very similar to a West Coast bakeri. Graded Fine+++ due to a soft fold on the shells labial dorsum.
