NoteExceptional and richly nacred deep water, rare color version of this famous Australian species. Diffuse clearly demarcated dorsal chocolate/sienna brown blotch, light apricot/peach/beige hued margins with modest and sparse surreal lateral wall spotting. The modestly rostrated shell is exemplified by a unusual dorsal line buried on the labral side with coral brown extremities. The shell shows modest/moderate tuberculation of the rounded margins and perfect extremities. An outstanding specimen with an unusual thin and grey/bluish halo complementing and fringing the dorsal blotch. Taken in deeper water west off Northwest coast area of Western Australia at 50-100 meters by a Taiwanese trawler in the late 70s. EX: Jeff Bellwood. There are subtle glazed areas of blemishes on the mid-dorsum/labral ramp not visible in the images. Grade: GEM minus.
