NoteAttractive deep water smaller specimen with a distinctive balanced dorsal sparsely mottled pattern accentuated by a strongly hued roundhouse cantaloupe/orange color band complementing the lateral walls and margins. The langfordi features a deep glossy nacre, perfect calloused rounded margins and flawless extremities. The shell displays moderate rostration, modest inflation with excellent nacre gloss and a modest weight/size ratio (12.8 grams). It is a young lightweight specimen. Trawled in the East China Sea off Taiwan at 140-160 meters in 5/2012. The specimen is difficult to flaw. Grade: GEM.
