A superb very large specimen of Australia’s LARGEST terrestrial mollusc, exhibiting exceedingly rich colour, in conjunction with a dense, well-formed pattern of atypical beauty. Known in Australia as the Giant Panda Snail, the species is endemic to north-eastern Australia, and is now very difficult to obtain, with virtually all of its habitat being protected under various national parks. Apertural lip lightly smoothed, as usual. A standout specimen for the land snail specialist. Data: Smith’s Lake, Pacific Palms, Mid North Coast Region, New South Wales, Australia; upon soil substrate, amongst leaf litter and fallen branches, after rain, at night, in subtropical forest region; 1980. Size: 65.6 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
