Zoila thersites contraria - DEEP WATER FORM , Iredale 1935
Size
65.3 mm
Locality
GAB, Eucla, South Australia
Note
Hyper-mature, hyper-glossy, and exceptionally golden brown pigmented example of this highly sought after Zoila subspecies. The shell features a remarkable and admirable wide dorsal line. Stunning colors and pattern. Heavy weight/size ratio with a beautiful heavily nacred base pattern (37.8 grams). The specimen displays perfect siphons, base and thick margins with modest tuberculation on the labral anterior margin. The mottled dorsal maculae pattern and radiating dorsal hues are hard to match. Trawled at 120-140 meters by an Australian trawler in the Great Australian Bight off Eucla, South Australia in 1/1985. The shell exhibits no detectable palpable or visually identifiable defects. EX: Marty Beals. Grade: GEM.
