NoteMagnificent super-globose specimen, exhibiting an exceptionally inflated shell with an extraordinarily wide aperture in proportion to the body whorl. The shell lacks periostracum and displays a remarkably expanded opening, bordered by a thick beige outer lip, with much of the surface showing an attractive violaceous-brown coloration. Collected by local gatherers in June 2025, among leaf litter in the humid Andean forest of Santander Department, Colombia, at an altitude of 1,550 meters above sea level. Ongoing deforestation and logging throughout the Colombian Andes have made specimens of this kind increasingly difficult to locate, greatly enhancing their desirability. This shell represents a superb collector’s piece and a rare opportunity to acquire a classic Andean species from a region of extraordinary biodiversity that is rapidly disappearing. A truly exceptional opportunity for the discerning international collector.
