NoteThis INCREDIBLE GIANT of the NEW CALEDONIAN form, is not far below the current official World Record Size, (from the same locality), with both being exceedingly similar in appearance, the only difference in favour of the current specimen being that it is SUPERIOR to the WRS example, being far cleaner and more pure. Ultra-clean, with NO encrustation, even upon the spire, producing an immaculate appearance. Uniform PURE WHITE, save the beautiful delicate LAVENDER accent at the anterior. Rare retention of enormous original operculum. Definitely for the advanced Conidae specialist, or collector of giant-sized shells. Data: Coral Sea, off southern region of Bellona Reef, Chesterfield Islands, New Caledonia; upon coral sand/rubble substrate, at night; 26 m; dived; 1994. Size: 128.3 mm. Grading: Fine+++ (a couple of typical restricted disruptions, always seen in old age giants). Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
