NoteAt the remarkable size of 26.2 mm, this superb GIANT is the LARGEST asellus of the JES Collection. Hypermature, with surprising solidity for the species. Pronounced dorsal ridging – a feature seen only in giants of the most advanced age. High, pure white columellar margin, with thick deposition of shell material to striking aesthetic effect – see above right image. For the Cypraeidae specialist seeking a first-rate giant of this beautiful species. Data: Off Talima, Olango, Olango Island Group, Cebu, Central Visayas, Philippines; upon sand/rubble substrate; 10-30 m; dived; 2009. Size: 26.2 mm. Grading: Fine+++. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
