This EXCEPTIONAL GIANT of the classic Great Australian Bight form – one of the LARGEST and FINEST of the JES Collection – undoubtedly ranks amongst the finest giants ever collected during the now long gone days of availability. EXTREMELY RARE SIZE. Very few specimens of this size were found, (in comparison to sizes under 105 mm), and far fewer still were of this level of quality and beauty. Exquisite colours in a pale autumnal palette. Spectacular dorsal pattern, incorporating broad, prominent, well-formed MANTLE LINE. Hypermature, with marked weight and solidity, and pronounced dorsal ridging, the latter attributed seen only in the most mature examples. Not freshly collected for almost three decades, and now obtainable only from the choicest old collections, and almost never like this. A MAGNIFICENT armeniaca for the most advanced Umbilia connoisseur. Data: Great Australian Bight, off Ceduna, South Australia, Australia; upon sand substrate; 140-150 m; 1999. Size: 107.1 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
