NoteA MAGNIFICENT ULTRA-LARGE specimen of the New South Wales form – the most beautiful incarnation of the species. Characteristic elongate form. Ultra-rich colour. Atypically dense, SPECTACULAR PATTERN. Exemplary quality for the species, habitat, locality, and collection method. Hypermature, with thickened apertural lip. Not freshly collected for decades, and now obtainable only from choice old collections. Data: Off Eden, New South Wales, Australia; upon mud/sand/detritus substrate; 100-140 m; trawled; 1987. Size: c.200 mm. Grading: Fine++. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
