NoteAn OUTSTANDING and beautiful specimen of this ‘classic’ rarity. Supremely well-formed dorsal pattern. Spectacular high margins, incorporating the remarkable feature of FIVE closely grouped PAIRS of MACULAE upon the columellar side – see above right image. Markedly inflated rhomboidal pyriform, of perfect proportions. NOTE: For those interested in a detailed analysis and history of this species, see my monograph in ‘Beautiful Cowries Magazine; No.7’. Data: Off Calumboyan, Sogod, Cebu, Philippines; upon coral reef substrate, on reef wall, at night; 40-50 m; diving; 2010. Size: 85.7 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
