NoteAn OUTSTANDING ULTRA-LARGE specimen of the northern Philippines form, exhibiting an elegance of form seen in few examples. Ultra-rich colour. Perfectly formed dorsal lacunae. Impeccably curated: as rich in colour, and fresh in appearance as the day it was collected. Hypermature, with porcellaneous white marginal callosity. It is extremely difficult to obtain the northern form now, as so much of the deep-water collecting in the Visayas has ceased. VERY RARE like this, and much sought after now. One of the LAST opportunities I can provide for a connoisseur Cypraeidae collector to acquire a ‘top of the line’ BIG guttata. Data: Off Oslob, Cebu, Philippines; upon sand/coral rubble substrate; 80-120 m; tangle netted; 2009. Size: 62.9 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
