NoteIt is supremely difficult to obtain a territus of this form / with such expansive and well-preserved varices, as the species does not typically produce such expansive varices, and when it does, they are typically subject to substantial damage during life, and the trawling process. A product of the legendary 1980s Queensland trawls – never collected since – and now obtainable only from choice old collections. A ‘BEST of the BEST’ territus for the Muricidae connoisseur. Data: Fairy Reef, Queensland, Australia; upon sand/rubble substrate; 60-80 m; trawled; 1986. Size: 44.5 mm. Grading: Gem; w/o. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
