NoteA superb specimen of the ULTRA-LARGE DEEP-WATER form, quite distinct from the in-shore, shallower water / intertidal form. Characteristic markedly elongate, elegant form, and thick gloss. Beautiful colour and markings. Exemplary quality for this typically rough form. A product of the legendary 1980s Queensland trawls – never collected since – and now obtainable only from choice old collections. Data: Off Townsville, Queensland, Australia; upon sand substrate; 40-50 m; trawled; 1983. Size: 88 mm. Grading: Fine++. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
