An EXCEPTIONAL, MINIATURE, RARE, LIVE-COLLECTED specimen of an EXTREME DEEP-WATER form – the SMALLEST fully mature specimen I have ever encountered. There is currently no official World Record small size established for this species, so the current specimen would create an exemplary benchmark. Supremely well-formed, minimal central dorsal maculation. Resplendent thick gloss for such a small cowrie. Markedly elongate form. A diminutive jewel for the advanced Cypraeidae specialist. Data: Mactan Channel, Cebu Strait, off Panglao, Bohol, Philippines; upon mud/sand/rubble substrate; 160-220 m; tangle nets; 1994. Size: 9.2 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
