NoteArestorides argus (Linnaeus, 1758) – Argus-Eyed Cowrie Size: 58.3 mm Origin: Off the coast of Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia This is one of the most beautiful and iconic shells, renowned for its distinctive pattern. Its main characteristics: - The entire surface is covered with uniform, neat, and varied brown rings—this pattern is very clear, distinct, and complete without defects, considered top quality. - The shape is elongated, solid, and perfectly symmetrical; the base color is a very clean, pale cream-grayish color, contrasting beautifully with the spotted pattern. - The mouthparts are a soft yellowish color, with fine, neat teeth, and a very shiny, glass-like surface. - The size of 58.3 mm is considered large and excellent, as the average size of this species is usually around 45–55 mm. - Absolutely excellent condition, perfectly intact, with no scratches, stains, or damage whatsoever. Specimens from Lombok waters are renowned for their vivid patterns and beautiful colors, among the finest in the Indo-Pacific region. These shells are highly sought after by collectors for their unique and beautiful patterns, unlike any other species. (F+++)
