LOTTIIDAE - Lottia discors (Philippi, 1849). WONDERFUL NATURAL INTACT CONDITIONS!! This is how you find the Lottia discors with only algae, most of them are really with hard calcareous attachments almost impossible to remove. The shell is 39mm with the algae about 55mm. Thick massive lip and heavy with white cream color between the black brown large spot in the posterior ventral side. The dorsum shows all its natural conditions. F+++-Gem. Apparently feeding on the marine soup that comes and goes with the currents, waves and seaweeds attached to the smooth stones, this species lives where the waves break and in the intertidal zone. Really hard to remove from stones without braking them. Found attached to the rocks with green and brown algae at extremely low tide. North Playa La Calechosa, Bahia de Cuastecomates, Jalisco, Mexico. March 2026.
