Conus klemae, commonly known as Klem's cone, is a rare and predatory marine sea snail endemic to the waters of South Australia and Western Australia. Like all cone snails, it is venomous and capable of stinging, making it highly prized by shell collectors but dangerous to handle.Distribution and HabitatLocation: Restricted to the southern coastline of Australia, primarily spanning from South Australia to Albany and the Margaret River region in Western Australia.Habitat: These benthic marine mollusks are typically found subtidally and in the intertidal zone. They can be found during low tides hiding on sand under rocks, and also by diving to depths between 10 to 25 meters. The shell length of 25-86 mm (with common mature specimens measuring 35-51 mm.Appearance: It features a distinct elevated, channeled spire. The shell's background color is yellowish, intricately decorated with an open, delicate net-like (reticulated) pattern in chestnut. The inner aperture of the shell is typically roseate (pinkish). As part of the Conidae family, Conus klemae is a predatory species that uses a specialized, modified radular tooth like a harpoon.
