NoteThe Pleurotomariidae specialist will be aware of the difficulty of obtaining an example of this delicate species in exceptional quality, upon account of its ultra-fine shell; rough habitat; and collection method. The current specimen is about as close to perfection as this species attains, with nothing but the most minor typical lines, and the most minimal restricted smoothing to the apertural lip. Devoid of the typical substrate discoloration which detracts from many examples. Retention of delicate apex. Particularly rich colour, and vivid apertural opalescence. In a different league to the majority of specimens. Data: East China Sea, off Wenzhou, Zhejiang Chekiang, China; upon sand/mud/rubble substrate; 160-180 m; trawled; 2011. Size: 93.8 mm (diameter). Grading: Fine+++. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
