NoteAn excellent ultra-large REPRESENTATIVE specimen of this ULTRA-RARE, almost impossible to obtain subspecies, exhibiting exceptionally rich charactertisc colour: luminous orange-ochre-apricot, with a central spiral band of cream, and a narrow register of white below the sutures. Known only from dead-collected specimens from craypots, the current specimen is so fresh as to exhibit the living colour. Collected only during the very ‘old days’ of craypotting, and now obtainable only from choice old collections. Data: Off Portland, Barwon South Region, Victoria, Australia; upon sand substrate; craypot; 1977. Size: c. 165 mm. Grading: Fine (smoothed lip; a couple of disruptions). Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
