NoteAn OUTSTANDING very large specimen, exhibiting extremely rich and beautiful colour, and being of exemplary overall quality. The connoisseur demands that the digitations be well-formed, and balanced in their collective formation – a feature lacking in the majority of examples, but present in the current exceptional specimen. Now extremely difficult to obtain at this level of size, quality, and beauty. Data: Off Puna’auia, Pape’ete, Tahiti, Windward Islands, Society Islands; upon coral sand/rubble substrate; 15-20 m; dived; 1999. Size: 135.8 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
