NoteOne of the absolute TOP barthelemyi of the JES Collection, this MAGNIFICENT, ULTRA-LARGE specimen exhibits exceedingly rich colour, in conjunction with a supremely well-formed pattern, incorporating sharply delineated bands of variegated colour. Hypermature, with greatly thickened shell walls, and consequent weight, and the rare feature of markedly broad, rounded whorl peripheries, creating a most elegant form. RARE QUALITY for such huge size, incorporating preservation of the delicate pin-point protoconch. A barthelemyi for the connoisseur. Data: Off Plage de Boucan Canot, Saint-Paul, Arrondissement Saint-Paul, Réunion; upon sand/rubble substrate, amongst reef; 40-45 m; dived; 2023. Size: 67.1 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
