Talostolida teres teres f. alveolus - SPECIAL COLOR , Tapparone-Canefri, 1882
Size
27.8 mm
Locality
Philippines
Note
GEM. A gem in the TERES complex. Fishermen from the island of Nocnocan, located northwest of Bohol, were diving in shallow waters near the island when they noticed the distinctive features of this beautiful shell. The shell is very wide for the Alveolus form, but it possesses nearly all the other characteristics of this form: no callus formation on the columella side, very prominent dorsal banding, a thin labrum, etc. The outer lip features a magnificent pattern of dark brown spots that stand out against the porcelain-like white, and the back has three broad bands. This specimen is a complete success and stands out among the thousands produced. It may take years to find another specimen of equal quality. Philippines. Nocnocan Island region. Shallow. 2019. #1172653
