A superb extremely large specimen of the JAPANESE FORM, from the very ‘old days’ of deep-water Japanese trawling. Beautiful large central dorsal maculation of pale ochre-caramel; pure porcellaneous white ventrum. Not freshly collected for decades, and now obtainable only from choice old collections. The original 1970s label, from an unknown collection, accompanies the specimen. Data: Kii Peninsula, off Wakayama Prefecture, Kansai Region, Honshu, Japan; upon sand/mud/rubble substrate; 60-100 m; trawled; 1974. Size: 51.9 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: 1) Unknown; 2) JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
