NoteAn ULTRA-LARGE specimen, from the very ‘old days’ of deep Zoila diving. White, ivory-tinted dorsum; pure porcellaneous white margins; ventrum with RUFINISTIC, ‘GOLDEN’ maculae. (NOTE: For an almost identical specimen, see Beautiful Cowries Magazine; No.1; May 2012; p.15; fig.11.) Hypermature, with pronounced marginal periphery, and considerable weight and solidity for the subspecies. The specimen was collected by, and formerly in the collection of famous Western Australian Zoila diver Andrew Edinger, and the original Edinger label accompanies the specimen. Collected very early in Edinger’s career – May 1980 – and of historical significance upon account of this fact. A special albanyensis, with impeccable provenance from two important collections. Data: Off Albany, Great Southern region, Western Australia, Australia; upon limestone reef substrate, upon grey sponge; 27 m; dived; May 1980. Size: 62.7 mm. Grading: Fine++ (typical dorsal lines invariably associated with this form). Provenance: 1) Andrew Edinger, Mandurah; 2) JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
