NotePair of crocatus collected off Guadalcanal back in the Nineties. No scars, natural lips, F++/gem quality. Crocatus in the Solomons usually don't grow much larger than 50-55 mm, while the more robust populations in the Philippines often exceed 65 mm. In March of this year I have been diving on a live-aboard cruising north of Guadalcanal to the Russel Islands, the Marovo lagoon, and New Georgia. Most of the habitats where we dived were poor of life (fish, corals, molluscs, crostaceans) likely due to pollution from various sources. Like in other Pacific locations, getting live shells is becoming a challenge. For specialist.
