Collected by local fishermen in relatively shallow water off Mannar Island in the stretch of sea between South East India and North West Sri Lanka. Today is a protected and monitored ecosystem area. Sold to me in the mid-eighties by a well know US dealer as Conus chusaki. The shell at the time had its operculum, which however got lost together with the original label during a move. The delicate lavender background colour of the freshly caught shell faded with time, but a hint of it is still visible now. Gem quality. For specialist.
