Endemic to the Colombian Andes, a region where vast expanses of the original humid and cloud forests have unfortunately disappeared, shells from these increasingly threatened habitats are becoming progressively scarcer and more difficult to obtain. This massive and remarkably heavy specimen is immediately distinguished by its striking basal band, elegantly ornamented with an alternating pattern of black and white coloration. Equally impressive is its thick, fully developed black outer lip, which gradually transitions into an exquisite violet hue, adding further character and visual appeal to this exceptional shell. The apex presents a slight chip, and the shell exhibits an impact perforation on the dorsal surface. These minor imperfections do not diminish its extraordinary aesthetic appeal or its value as a collector's specimen; on the contrary, they provide subtle and fascinating evidence of its authenticity, resilience, and natural history in its native environment. Collected among the leaf litter of a humid montane forest at an altitude of 1,550 meters above sea level, in October 2022.
