NoteI saw this shell in a basket of small cowriesin a gift shop in Malè, Maldive islands, in 1979. Most of the shells in that basket were Naria ocellata. I believe all may have been brought there from Sri Lanka: the same tourist shop was selling big dark purple-mouthed Harpago chiragra and long-branched Chicoreus palmarosae, which are quite typical local populations of Sri Lanka. Wherever was its origin, this specimen exceeded by far the length of all other lentiginosa - hence its peculiarity.
