A lovely subadult specimen of Mus donmoorei which, despite not having reached full maturity, displays an attractive pattern of brown and black speckles scattered across much of its dorsum. Collected in the year 2000 by shrimp trawlers operating in the waters off the La Guajira Peninsula, Colombia, this specimen predates the implementation of bottom-trawling restrictions introduced in the early 2000s to protect vulnerable marine species.
