NoteThe FINEST MALE specimen I have ever encountered. Fully mature at this diminutive size, and of extremely rare PERFECTION, incorporting retention of the extremely delicate pin-point protoconch. Supremely well-formed, perfectly preserved digitations. Rich and beautiful colour, with deep violet apertural interior. Particularly balanced proportions. The species has not been freshly collected for around two decades, and examples are now obtainable only from choice old collections. A rare JEWEL for the Strombidae specialist, or admirer of truly exquisite seashells. Data: Off Avocaré, Cargados Carajos Shoals, Mauritius; upon coral sand/rubble substrate; 5-10 m; dived; 1994. Size: 104.7 mm. Grading: Gem; w/o. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
